Each product represents the combination of clinical excellence and environmental responsibility, enabling precise procedures with lasting effects.
Quality, safety, and regulation
Our products are subject to certified quality and risk management in accordance with ISO 13485 and EN ISO 14971. This enables us to meet the requirements of the EU MDR and ensure the highest standards of safety, performance, and compliance.

Sustainable development
Erbe takes ecological criteria into account in all phases of development. In pilot projects, we analyze processes, test CO₂ tools, and define environmental standards. From resource-saving materials to efficient energy use, sustainability is considered early in the development process. Suppliers are involved in the processes at an early stage.
Durability & Service
Erbe devices are designed for a long service life - many remain in use for over 20 years. Reprocessable instruments save resources. Maintenance, repair, and on-site service extend service life and reduce downtime. The Erbe Academy trains specialists in the safe and efficient use of the systems.

Medical technology with dual benefits: clinical and environmental
VIO 3n – the most energy-efficient electrosurgical unit in its performance class.
With reduced power consumption in standby and active mode, the VIO® 3n lowers power requirements during use, thereby supporting resource-efficient work in the operating room.

Cart packaging
Foam-free packaging: stable, recyclable, lighter
Our new solution replaces plastic foam with cardboard. The result: 20% less material, 99% less plastic, up to 50% fewer CO₂ emissions*. The packaging provides secure protection, is stable, and is recyclable. Less weight reduces transport emissions – for sustainable product protection without compromise.
* Based on three independent estimates (VDI calculation tool, AI data sets, EPDs)
Frequently asked questions about our products and production
We do not currently publish any PCFs or EPDs. However, an initial pilot PCF has already been created with the support of an external provider.
Since 2021, our Scope 2 emissions at our headquarters have been completely eliminated - through the purchase of green electricity and the use of our own photovoltaic systems.
Through targeted logistics projects, we were able to reduce transport-related CO₂ emissions in North America and China by around 50% within two years – in particular through better capacity utilization and the shift from air to sea freight. Further projects and market rollouts are in the planning stage.
Our primary packaging for instruments is made of PET-O/PE with Tyvek. For transport, we mainly use recyclable cardboard boxes with PP adhesive tape and PE stretch film. In addition, device and set packaging already contains a high proportion of recycled material. All packaging is PVC-free and DMF is not used.
Since 2024, we have been complying with the requirements of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act. This is based on a binding Supplier Code of Conduct and risk-based assessments of human rights and environmental standards.
