For the Research and Basic Technologies Department of our Tübingen location, we are looking for a
Research Scientist Plasma Medicine (m/f/d)
Your Responsibilities
- Work in an interdisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and medical professionals
- Planning, development, and construction of complex experimental setups and test benches with mechanical, electronic, and analytical components
- Design, dimensioning, and implementation of plasma sources and plasma applicators for use as medical devices
- Investigation of the effects of plasma sources on cell culture models (2D, 3D, organoids, etc.) in collaboration with cell biology and microbiology partners
- Participation in interdisciplinary projects with academic and industrial collaboration partners
- Scientific and technical documentation as well as presentation of experimental results
- Participation in the conduct of clinical studies in the field of plasma medicine
- Preparation of scientific publications and conference contributions
Your Skills
- Successfully completed degree or PhD in biomedical sciences, biochemistry or biophysics, cell biology, engineering, or a related field
- Several years of experience in the field of plasma medicine in an academic or industrial environment
- In-depth knowledge of the design and operation of plasma sources (e.g. DBD-CAP, plasma jets, noble gas plasmas) and their physical principles
- Solid understanding of the biological effects of cold / low-temperature atmospheric plasmas on cell cultures and biological tissue
- Knowledge of medical applications of the mentioned plasma technologies
- Ideally, hands-on laboratory experience with cell cultures (2D, 3D, organoids, etc.)
- Experience in project management (classical and/or agile) is desirable
- Strong problem-solving skills, a high level of self-organization, and a structured working style
- Very good written and spoken English skills
